Onsite Activities

Each season ushers in a special blend of activities throughout 300 acres of forest, meadows, and ponds. Explore independently or request a guide. Of course, all equipment, instruction, and services are included in the experience price.

Comfortable cruisers or high-end mountain bikes (helmets available) open the surrounding areas. Let Chef Rich prepare a box lunch — wraps or sandwiches on house-made breads with custom condiments, plus cucumber pickles, aged Grafton cheddar, vegetable crudite, dried fruits, cookies, and water — for the 10-mile downhill ride to Woodstock. But don’t worry about climbing the hill. We’ll pick you up.

Billiards and Music at The Pub

From the croquet court below the main house, an iron walking bridge crosses to the pub, where a fully-stocked bar completes the unique sense of place. A collection of international beer bottles and bottle cap art, along with pieces by Cy Twombly, Donald Roller Wilson, and Nam June Paik, surround a billiards table. Relax in front of a fire over drinks, play the Steinway grand piano, or select music on the vintage jukebox—retrofitted with a wide variety of new CDs— and dust off your dance moves. Just outside, a stone fire pit and circle of Adirondack chairs invite a late-night glass of cognac under the Vermont stars.

What could be more romantic than a private twilight paddle across our own Copper Pond?

A perfect way to start a casual cocktail hour on the lawn next to the Main House.

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing

Private groomed trails and a wide selection of equipment free you to indulge in the tranquil surroundings.

Downhill Skiing

Leave behind the crowds. We’ve reserved the slopes just for you. Six groomed trails on property — Main Street, Man Trap, Free Air, World So Wide, Jay Hawker, and Trail of the Hawk — remain closed to the public. Our Sherpa (high-powered snowmobile) can carry nine guests back to the top after each run.

Fitness Center

Equipped with treadmills, two Precor EFX bicycles, a Flex Circuit System, free weights, yoga equipment and mats, and exercise videos, this popular exercise area provides a sheltered alternative to the range of outdoor activities.

Fly Fishing

Rods, reels, flies, and authentic Cabela’s vests will make you feel like a pro. The fully stocked pond will, too.

Hiking and trail running

Hiking and trail running — Miles of groomed trails and hills and views invite moderate or strenuous recreation in the verdant forest.

Ice Skating

We provide ice skates, hot toddies, and the man-made rink near Orchard Cottage. You bring the laughter.

Japanese Furo

Privacy, healing, and 104 degrees of pristine water are all housed in an intriguing design. Ask about the unspoken rule.

If you can imagine a setting worthy of Chef Rich’s unexpected creations, we can deliver it.

Puzzles, Games & Reading

Chess, checkers, and additional games provide quiet entertainment in every corner. If you’re up to the challenge, add a few pieces to a Stave Puzzle — each creation deviates from any preconceived notion of a jigsaw puzzle. Set your e-reader aside for a while and rediscover books. A diverse selection of literary classics and bestsellers fill the property’s shelves.

Yes, we have sleds. And no, they’re not just for kids!

The Bridge House Spa

Massages, facials, scrubs, pedicures, and other treatments beckon in any weather. (Please note that unlike all other on-site activities, spa treatments are billed separately from the all-inclusive experience.)

Enjoy a refreshing dip in Copper Pond. You might have it all to yourself.

Located next to the Farmhouse at Copper Hill and the adjacent pond, one court comes equipped with rackets and tennis balls.
