Meyer is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG), the company behind some of New York City’s most celebrated restaurants, including Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, The Modern, and Maialino. Since opening Union Square Cafe in 1985, Meyer has become one of the most influential voices in hospitality, known for his philosophy of Enlightened Hospitality and his people-first approach to leadership. Meyer also founded Shake Shack, which grew from a single New York City hot dog cart into a global, publicly traded company. He is the author of the New York Times bestselling book Setting the Table and has received numerous honors, including the Julia Child Award and multiple James Beard Awards.
Kalins has been an innovator in magazine editorial and management for decades. In 2018, she was honored by induction into the American Society of Magazine Editors Hall of Fame. Kalins was the first woman ever named Adweek's Editor of the Year, and was awarded the prestigious Matrix Award from Women in Communications for her work in magazines. In 2010, she accepted the Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award from WIPP, and in 2013, Kalins was voted into the James Beard Foundation’s Who’s Who in Food & Beverage. Over the years, Kalins has also authored and edited an impressive number of books, including a few based on Meyer's restaurant endeavors.
