Good Day All, and My Warmest Greeting from Vermont!

Monday August 14, 2023

As you’ve probably heard, we have had our fair share of rain this Summer here in Vermont, the upside of which has meant that our gardens, meadows and forests are as green as I’ve ever seen them.  In between raindrops, we are in full Summer swing here at Twin Farms.  Dave’s Honey Bees are at their busiest in all three of our apiaries, Emma’s gardens are producing tons of fresh goodies that we are using daily in the kitchen, Jake’s Activities Team has our guests on hikes, bikes, paddle boards, canoes and the court, and Chef Nathan and his visionary Culinary Team have delivered some incredible collaborative dinners with guests chefs, and there are more to come.  (LINK)

For all of us on the farm, Summer is a time for growth, and this year in particular, a time of reflection.

We continue to witness the Treehouses come to life and are absolutely thrilled with the progress.  As of September 14th, 2023, we will welcome our first guests into Goldfinch and Hermit Thrush (the Treehouses have been named for birds found here on property), with two more Treehouses scheduled to open mid-October.  The remaining four will open later this year and we simply can’t contain our excitement.

Having had the privilege of stewarding Twin Farms for over ten years now, I am struck by the extraordinary dedication of our team, some of whom have been with us for decades, like our fabulous Guest Liaison, Rebecca Rogers, who just celebrated 25 years on the farm!

Moreover, I am continuously impressed by the nobility of what our team accomplishes every day.  There is true honor in service, and our team takes this belief very seriously indeed.  From our Housekeepers, who wake at the crack of dawn and put the same attention to detail in making the first bed of the day as the last, to our Food and Beverage Team, who ensure that everything that comes out of our kitchens does so to your specifications, to our Grounds Team who, despite this year’s rain, have maintained the natural beauty of our property, I say thank you.

The gift of service is, of course, a gift that is returned to the giver, through the longstanding friendships that have been formed with long-time guests, to the smiles and appreciation shown by first-time visitors.  At the end of the day, our tiny plot of land here in the Vermont countryside, serves as a refuge.  I am honored to call Twin Farms home.  Our hope is that you consider it your home too.

With warmest regards from everyone on the farm,

John
