Treehouse Joy

Wednesday February 21, 2024

This December, just in time for the Holiday Season, Twin Farms completed construction on the last two or our eight beautiful new Treehouses, and we are beyond thrilled.

At the heart of each Treehouse’s design is the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi Sabi, an art form that embraces natural beauty and the imperfections therein. Surrounded by trees and elevated nearly 20-feet in the air, nature inevitably becomes the center of our affection and attention, which is captured in the easy flow and curated calm of each Treehouse.

construction of treehouseWhat was, for so many years, only a hope and a dream, was made a reality in this expansion, and there is no shortage of individuals to thank. This begins with our owners, who had both the vision and the trust in our team to bring this new era to fruition. To them, we are truly grateful. Of course, we also want to thank our loyal guests, many of whom are more like family, and whose input was invaluable. I want to thank our development team, including Matt Smith of MDSLP, and the design team at Michaelis Boyd, including Chelsea Rowe, Rina Kukaj, and Saifan Schmerer – you are all amazing. Our local architects, especially Lynn Cetrano, from Black River Design. Dan Gurney and his team, who created a space that feels like it truly belongs. Eric Masse and his team of artisans at Commonwealth, whose tireless work created spaces with a soul. The team at HP Cummings Construction, particularly Dan Smith, Zach Denekas, Chad Thurston, and Jamie Applebee – your efforts were extraordinary. Our partners at The Enchantment Group whose support is very much appreciated indeed. And lastly, to our incomparable team at Twin Farms – from those of you who worked day in and day out on the Treehouses – to those who kept the show running amidst the constantly changing environment, my biggest thanks is reserved for you.

construction of treehouseSo, what’s next? We are excited to announce that over our annual shutdown this Spring, we will be reimagining our 1790’s Dining Room in the Main House. Staying true to the architectural roots of our New England farmhouse, we will be bringing in more light, adding a touch of romantic flair, and updating the overall energy at the heart of the Main House. The beautiful calming design is again the result of many hearts and minds coming together and will be led by the team at Michaelis Boyd. While we are at work on the Main House Dining Room, we will also add a bit more light to the Barn Room itself, with new windows and updated light fixtures, all to be completed by late May 2024.

We can’t wait to share all of these improvements with you, and even more so, to welcoming you back to our beautiful little corner of Vermont.

Warmly,
John Graham
Managing Director
